Liquid Aminos – My New Thing
Hey Guys !! What have you all been up to? Hopefully enjoying your summer so far.
We recently took a quick vacation and have been enjoying the pool. Loosening the schedule a little. Trying really hard not to make this summer too busy. Of course last summer (covid) was definitely not busy with things to do but we were sure busy here at home. We are notorious for trying to cram too many things in to our summer break, so we are working hard to keep our fun to a minimum in order to enjoy what we do choose to do. Which so far is swimming.
On a foodie note. I found a new thing. It’s a little tough for me to work veggies in. They aren’t exactly my favorite. I have to spruce them up to like them better. Remember my last post on veggie dips? Well that has worked out well but I don’t always have raw ready to go veggies on hand since they don’t always keep for long. So I also like having a bag of Birds Eye Normandy Blend Mixed Veggies on hand. The bag blend includes broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini and yellow squash. I have steamed, roasted in oven, sautéed in skillet. All fine and dandy. I usually just toss some seasonings on them and call it good.
Then… I heard about Bragg Liquid Aminos. Have you heard of or tried it?
Liquid aminos are culinary seasonings that look and taste similar to soy sauce but are supposed to be a better alternative to soy sauce. They add a savory, salt flavor to meals and are naturally vegan and gluten-free. Their website says this gluten-free liquid seasoning is made from non-GMO verified soybeans and has essential amino acids. Also says there are no artificial colorants or synthetic filler used. Ok, got the deets out of the way. Let’s talk about how to use it and the taste.
My opinion is, it is better than soy sauce. Hey, I’m not down playing soy sauce, it’s just simply what they are suggesting as an alternative for. All you soy sauce lovers, have at it ! I’m just not a super big fan of the taste of soy sauce. However, I am a fan of the taste of this stuff. In the below picture, I have my frozen veggie blend, with a cut up grilled chicken breast and a few noodles with hardly any alfredo sauce left on them. I drizzled this on the veggies and chicken. Only a few drops and it was sooo good on there !!! I don’t have a photo, but I also had these same veggies on top of some brown rice and drizzled this over that. Again, SO GOOD.
If you google what to use Bragg Liquid Aminos on, a ton of ideas come up. Almost all of them sound like they’d be good. I liked this so much right away, I just had to share. I had never heard of it until recently but I do live under a rock. So you may all already know about it. In which case…..tell me what you use it on?
Hope you all have a great day.
