Back to School

Someone is 50-50 ready to go back to school.

Back to School

Let me explain before you judge. I’m not the parent that pretends she’s not excited for the kids to get back in school. Yes we had a fantastic summer, yes I love spending everyday with her, yes I love pushing work aside and doing fun day trips, and yes I definitely love swimming everyday.  One of the things about working from home is that during the summer, with no sitters, it can get a little tricky to get any actual work done and it’s pretty piled up by the end of summer break. Kids get antsy once you’ve done all the fun summer things, taken your vacations, hit all the parks, to see their friends again. As much as we hate to see summer come to an end, we are just as excited for school to start. She may say she’s not ready for school, but she is. So….judge if you will, but the truth is, we are both ready for our structured days apart to begin. She wants to see her friends, I want my sanity.

This is how it usually goes around here. The first day of school – I’m like June Cleaver, sending my kid off in new clothes and a healthy well thought out lunch. The last day of school – I’m like Maxine hoping her lunchable wasn’t outdated and not caring if she dug clothes out of yesterdays dirty laundry.

When the end of the school year gets here next year, we’ll both be just as excited to end the structure and let the fun begin again by planning our summer activities and shoving work aside again.

Aside from doing actual school work, she was very ready to get back to fun, socializing and Art Class !!  If you have kids, I hope you all have great first days back !

Are your kids excited to go back to school?

Or is it a struggle to get them up and out the door in the morning?
