Guacamole

Hello Friends. It’s been awhile. Sometimes I go through those dry spells on the blog when life is super busy. Sometimes…I just got nothin’.

I do have guacamole though. It’s the only way I can choke down avocados to reap all the good health benefits. It’s not my favorite by any means, but I do like it on occasion. I really like spreading it on my taco instead of salsa. Oh heck, that’s a lie, I like salsa too !!  And somehow while making it this morning, it got me thinking about a few things.
Guacamole

Sometimes Ashlyn will tell me what other kids say and do at school. All the meanness ya know. Cruel comments. Although this year has been way better than last year for snideness, drama and cattiness in her class, she’s not exempt from the comments either. None of them are. Funny how these comments come from the “cool kids”. Last year Ashlyn and 2 friends started a ‘club’ (you know the recess clubs). Back then we talked about never excluding anyone from joining your club. All are welcome. They actually called it The Cool Kids Club. They said it was because they were going to be kind to everyone and Kind is Cool. I know at one point they had over 20 kids. I thought that was awesome.

Anyhow, I don’t know how my healthy guac story is leading to this subject but let’s roll with it. So recently she told me a comment a kid said to her. I was like “You tell that little a-hole he can kiss your a$$” !!  So needless to say, maybe I’m not the best advice giver in those situations.  haha  Then a friend yesterday reminded me of a great book for children to read on this subject. This friend gave the book to Ashlyn last year. It’s called Mari by Michele Rae Eich. It’s an excellent children’s book with a great message. It’s a great tool to get your kids to open up about the struggles at school.

My kid really let’s one negative thing bring her down. Been guiding her to stand up for herself and others and the first time it worked (the other kid backed down and became nicer) really helped get her going (this kid is no longer a problem). School is not her favorite anyway, so I try to tell her that saying… every day may not be good but there’s something good in every day. Then she told me one of her favorite’s which is… the world is gonna judge you no matter what you do, so live your life the way you want to. That’s right, Get it Girl !!!

Next time someone throws negativity or nasty comments your way, you just remember one thing….
You Are Guacamole

I think we all need this shirt. I love it !!

This post completely took a turn. I intended to reiterate the healthy pro’s of avocado’s. haha Oh well, at least we now know You Are All Guacamole !!

Why do people feel the need to be/say mean stuff? Need to give Christi the link for that book for Addi. Man I sure can not even imagine going through school now with social media and how is seems so many more issues to deal with now. People are rsholes then I have to turn in to one and I’m better at it lol

Ha, right !! You need to be better at it to bite back. I’m not sure what age group the book is intended for as far as reading level, but the message covers a wide range. Like birth thru 90. It’s a cute book about following your dreams and standing up to the ones who think they can crush them dreams. Kids and social media today…Oiy! Seems exhausting. If you can get through school these days, you can get through anything. I’m sure of it. And you knowing me, it’s so hard to teach that fine line of stand up for yourself but not quite get sent to the principal’s office, ya know. lol
