Goku Outdoor Solar Light – Review
Hey everyone. Hope you are having a great day so far. Last year we put a shed up between the house and pool area. We knew there was no light there but we figured we would run power to it. Since that has not been done, we decided to try the solar route instead. I could not be more pleased !!! No power needed, no cords to bury or hide, no switches to find in the dark. It even charges great when cloudy.

I went with the Goku Outdoor Solar Light. I have used several Goku products and I’ve been very pleased with this brand. This light was no different.
-
- It’s about 11.5″ x 4.13″ in size.
- 136 bright LED lights on 4-sided lighting area. Great illumination area. It is a downward & wide lighting area.
- Motion Sensor Detector
- Waterproof, Heatproof, Frostproof. Designed to withstand many weather elements.
- It says it will detect motion within 26′ at 120 degrees sensing angle. I did not measure this, but I would say it’s quite accurate based on my best judgement.
- Auto light off during daytime. Auto light on during nighttime or when motion sensed.
- Mounting is simple with the 2 included screws.
- 3 Lighting Modes.
-
- Sensor Mode. Light stays off during the day. At night, it remains off until it senses movement. The Bright Mode remains on through proximal motion and for about 15-30 seconds after the movement has stopped.
- All Lighting Mode. Light stays off during the day. During the night, the light stays on bright mode at all times regardless of movement. If it’s fully charged, the light should stay lit for 6 continuous hours. I think it was longer than 6 hours though.
- Dim Mode. Light stays off during the day. At night, it will stay on Dim Mode. When detecting movement, the Bright Mode kicks on through proximal motion and for about 15-30 seconds after the movement has stopped. It will then go back to the Dim Mode.
It’s eco-friendly and power saving. The solar panel converts solar power into electricity and saves it in a built-in 4400mAh rechargeable battery. Wire free. Pollution free. Emits no greenhouse gases. Completely free to run.
Great for many areas….driveway, patio, yard, porch, steps, stairways, carport, garage. We have an area between our pool fence, the shed and where we park the camper than is very dark. So it’s been the best solution since we have no where to plug a light in here.
No overhang or anything to block the solar panel.
We will most likely get another one and put on the peak of the side of the shed for evening swimming in the pool area. We had many dark swims last summer.
This is the light on the bright setting when it detected me walking in the area. Nice and bright isn’t it ?
It’s brighter than I expected it to be, in a good way. Most solar lights I’ve ever had were on the whimpy side for how much it lit up. This one is nice and bright, without being “too bright” as well. I’m tellin ya, it’s darn near perfect.
We couldn’t be more pleased. And even though we intended to put it here by the shed until the pool was ready, now we like it too much here. So it must stay. We’ll just have to get a 2nd one come summer !! And the bonus is, when you go in the shed, it’s bright enough in there you don’t need additional lighting in there either. What a win win.
Remember the Dim Mode? With this one, here is a picture of Dim all night long. Then if it detects motion, it flips to the bright like the above pictures. Then after no motion, goes back to dim. I think the motion sensitivity is really good too. It’s not going to pick up every single leaf that blows by, but it will pick up people, animals, cars, etc.
To say I’m please with my new solar light is an understatement. I’m actually way more excited about it than most people would be over a light, haha. It’s just because I really do love it. Finally one with the perfect brightness. I also love than the solar charge holds all night. The Dim Mode and All Lighting Mode held just fine all night long. I highly recommend this one if you are in need of a solar light anywhere. Excellent price point too.
Check out the product page for further information and wattage and lumen details. Also see the same light in our pool area.
I’m going to have to get one of these. We need something to light up the sidewalk out back. Something the puppy can’t get to and chew up. Nice helpful review & pictures. Thanks
I did forget to take a pic of the back to show the switch where settings are. Whoops. But it’s a very simple switch to flip to 1, 2 or 3. We absolutely love it for our dark area by the shed/camper/gate.
And yes, you brought up another good point. It’s something that the puppy can’t get to and chew !
