Eastern Caribbean Cruise – St Thomas, US Virgin Islands – Part 3 of 5
This is the only stop out of all 4 that we had been to before. About 15 years ago maybe. Was good to visit again and see what has changed.
Right off the cruise dock used to be all these little stands selling shirts, trinkets, jewelry and a bunch of homemade islandy items. But none of that was there. Looks like they’ve all went into permanent stores. Which is fine too, but just took us awhile of walking around to figure that out.
We found the people to be quite nice here. It’s really got a small town feel to it. Except when 3 cruise ships are there and let off about 10,000 – 12,000 people. Actually they must have been on excursions and really spread out, because it sure didn’t feel like 3 boats worth of people were there.
This is one of those islands that feels homey and beachy and islandy. We’d love to come back, not on a cruise, and just stay for the week. I was chatting with a lady that worked at one of the stores, mentioned how we’ve been here before and would like to come back for a week. She said “ah yes, that’s how it happens”. Then I mentioned maybe for a month, then the winter…..she said “that’s what happened for me”. She visited a few times and then moved there. I asked her if it really was like paradise everyday or if that wears off. She said “Oh no, it really is paradise every single day”.
The water is the most amazing blue.
Sea plane. Da-plane, Da-plane !!! (Sorry young readers, you have to be old to get that one).
One day we’ll be back to explore this whole island.
One of them boats will be mine one day. And one of them houses.
You just can’t look away. It really is THAT color of blue. If you think we are obsessed with water, you’d be correct.
We docked right there in front of Disney.
Pretty neat for Ashlyn to see the process it takes to get tied off, docked and get clearance to get off the ship.
Just an idea of what the forwarding address card will look like. The lady at the shop said they have pretty good schools. As well as a great University Marine Biology Program. She should be able to support her beach bum parents with that.
More boat picture’s, just because.
We didn’t do any excursions here, just a shopping day. Everywhere in the area we went seemed to be real picked up and clean. Ok, one bathroom my Mom and I went to may have been a little sketchy, but other than that.
She doesn’t get my obsession with palm tree’s but she stood there anyway.
About 15 years ago, we went to Megans Bay. Rated one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. It’s a great beach and this picture does not do it justice. It’s a must see.
Hope to see you again beautiful St Thomas.
