Eastern Caribbean Cruise – Amber Cove, Dominican Republic – Part 2 of 5
We bought an excursion at this port. So that’s about all we had time for. Not much exploring or shopping here.
We had good weather which we were grateful for since we planned to be outside the whole time.
The part of the island we went to for the excursion, and up around where you dock was very nice and clean. Typical for the tourists area ya know. Was pretty inviting. As we rode the bus to our excursion, you could see other parts of the land were not as nice or kept up. I think this is the norm though. We hit a few shops real quick on our way back to the boat.
Very pretty plants and landscape.
Oh palm tree’s, I need to live by them. They make everything pretty.
Entering through the waterfall into Ocean World for our dolphin swim and afternoon of fun !! Our ticket included 5 hours here.
Saw a cool bird show and got to check them out afterwards.
She also got to feed a Toucan (not shown). You know, the Fruit Loop bird.
This is where our dolphin swim took place.
You could also chill in the Pirate’s Pool. Which had little passageways under the rocks to another pool. Not positive if the passageways are meant for people to swim through, or just a way to circulate water to each pool.
We couldn’t go on any further without checking it out of course.
The Sea Lion Show was great ! They are such silly animals.
There was a shark encounter included in our ticket as well, but dang it, we missed it !!! Actually, none of us really cared to do this, we just watched for a moment.
Snorkeling over the coral reef. Checking out different types of fish.
If we’d have had more time, we should have stood in that circle area, had someone take our picture in the opposite direction. Then we’d have had the ocean in the background and the words Amber Cove would have been the right way. Oh well. I’m a little backwards myself sometimes.
So here is what we’ve been so excited for !!! Swimming with the dolphins !!!! I think we need one at home ! Our pool is salt water, they’d be ok right.
One great thing about this is that they keep the groups that signed up small. More interaction with the dolphins that way.
All of this was done at Ocean World…the Sea Lions, the Birds, the Sharks, the Pirate Pool, the Dolphin Swim, the Snorkeling, the food if you ate at the restaurant….all of the workers, the help, the instructors…..everyone….every single one of them was so nice, helpful and friendly. Which makes your experience and memories so much better. Much appreciated Ocean World, kudos to you all.
Hug them. This is my favorite picture.
Um, they did this to us more than once !
We did a fin pull with Sharkie and Boomer !! (Who names a dolphin…Sharkie???)
You don’t know exactly when they are coming up behind you, the instructor yells “Don’t miss the taxi”! The instructor was great by the way.
Dolphins are amazing animals. This was very much worth the money and I’d definitely do it again if given the chance. The instructors made the experience very personable.
And then the nose push ! Each dolphin pushes on the bottom of your feet and shoots you up out of the water. So FUN !!!
Ashlyn being so light got the furthest out of the water.
Here’s a video of essentially the same picture’s, but mostly and more importantly…..it’s footage of our dolphin swim !!!!
